Plastics used in the automotive industry are subject to versatile stress factors. They are supposed to be weather-proof, resistant against high temperatures, diverse chemicals and media, as well as wear-resistant. Bada AG will present its broad product range for this field of application at the Fakuma 2018.

Engine compartment

High dimensional stability under heat and ageing resistance are an absolute must for engine compartment applications and adjacent fields. Thus, compounds based on Badamid PPA as well as Badatron PPS, which are available in various reinforcement and modification grades are well suited for e.g. thermostat housings and parts in the area of charge air pipes. Highly flexible hoses, e.g. for windshield washer fluid can be realised with our highly toughness-modified Badamid B80 schwarz S3. Our heat stabilized Badamid B70 TM-Z2H is suited for the respective mounting clips and can be overmoulded with the adhesion-modified Badaflex TPE-S 50A 1659 2K for specialized parts.

Exteriors and Roofing

It is essential that parts used for automotive exteriors are resistant to dry and humid weather conditions caused by sunlight and other atmospheric exposure. Compounds with high toughness and UV stabilisation like Badalac ASA/PC and Badalac ASA/PA are applied for sunroof guide rails and air deflectors. The respective sealing profiles can be produced with the extrudable and UV stabilized Badaflex TPE-S 70A 5239 UV EX S1.

Gear wheels and slide shoes for sunroofs can be manufactured from the tribologically modified compounds Badamid A70 GF30 TF3 H as well as Badadur PBT GF20 MoS2.

Plastic parts at the hinged bracket of windscreen wipers are supposed to provide extraordinary dimensional stability. For this purpose, Bada offers a product solution with very low hygroscopicity and high resistance to wiper fluid and other solvents: the mineral filled, heat stabilized Badamid PA12 GM30 H.  

Parts used in the head lamp area is the preserve of Badamid PA46 GF25 schwarz. Plugs made of this material stand out for their high dimensional stability under heat and their low tendency to creep.

Our flagship for outdoor applications is a combination of materials consisting of ABS/PC-GF20 and TPE that has been coordinated in terms of adhesion. The main component ABS/PC 130 GF20 H UV schwarz offers dimensional stability under heat beyond 130°C as well as high rigidity due to its glass fibre content. The soft component TPE-S 60A 5206 UV 2K schwarz optimally adheres to ABS/PC based compounds and passes established ageing tests under heat and light exposure. This material assembly is well-suited for all applications, in which the hard components must be overmoulded for better haptics and appearance, e.g. handles on the boot and various mouldings.


Bada’s special strength, tailor-made modification and colouring of compounds is particularly evident in automotive interiors.

Heat and UV stabilized Badamid B70 GF30 H UV is applied for sun visors, e.g. in satin black and pearl grey. Badalac ASA/PC 120 H UV AS convinces with high light stability and antistatic properties in the oddments tray that is also subject to high light exposure.

Inlay mats and oddments tray mats require good haptics, excellent flowability and absolute colour fidelity of the compound. Badaflex TPE-S 65A 5331 is an established product for this field of application available in all common automotive colours and freely variable regarding Shore hardness.

Visible parts with very high rigidity require extensive formulation know-how in order to combine high surface quality with a high filling degree, a combination that may be contractionary at first glance. Bada’s top product in this area is Badamid PPA-HP GF60 H, which realizes long complex flow paths and flawless surfaces despite high filling degree – properties that are a matter of course for visible fins and mouldings. Its high filling degree and partially aromatic character guarantee very high rigidity and dimensional stability under heat. Badamid B70 GF50 H UV LB has been developed particularly for all control levers positioned in the steering wheel area. High rigidity and surface quality are combined with excellent laser marking properties in very bright white.

Two new shining stars

Bada AG specializing in the production of tailor-made compounds has established two new shining (but not nonincendive) stars in the firmament of flame retardant polymer compounds: Badamid C70 FR HF HH and Badamid BA70 FR HF HH.

Both products distinguish themselves by a certified long-term stability in addition to a UL94 V-0 classification for all common wall thicknesses. Both have top RTI values (130°C) far below
1 mm wall thickness and are thus predestined for e.g. the switch and clamp market, where they establish a new state-of-the-art. In addition, both types have been tested on the basis of the European standard for railway components EN 45545-2 and awarded the highest classification “hazard level3”. Due to these characteristics, these materials are well suited for any European rail traffic product.

These two unreinforced compounds come from the extensive polyamide product line and are based on a blend of PA66 and PA6 or on a copolyamide. While the copolyamide-based product stands out for its wide processing window (ideal for brilliant colours) and is well suited for snap-fits and integral hinges, Badamid BA70 FR HF HH particularly scores with short cycle times and its high productivity regarding high-volume products.

In comparison to former products, the user benefits from decisive advantages, as this product line has the ability to unite opposites and offers an unprecedented variety of certifications that leaves nothing to be desired by the electronics industry.

According to Bada AG, possible applications and target markets are e.g. housings, switches, insulators, connectors, and contact supports.

The Badamid C70/BA70 FR HF HH product line can be processed by injection moulding and allows for the production of thin-walled, UL94 approved parts with segments down to 0.4 mm wall thickness that facilitate the miniaturization of components.


Transparent Bada Compounds – Insight in New Applications

Bada AG has broadened its product range of transparent plastics for many product groups within the framework of various development projects, which enables them to provide applications that require high transparency of the finished parts.

Badaflex TPE-S 55A 5371LD transparent S1 is a thermoplastic elastomer with good transparency and adhesion. Shore hardness can be widely modified opening
opportunities for applications like suction cups and non-slip coated surfaces.

Badalon PC 30 transparent, a polycarbonate, can be coloured transparently in any colour even for smaller batch sizes, making it the ideal material for e.g. viewing windows and aesthetic parts way beyond mass application.

Bada provides the transparent PP type Badaprop PPH50 transparent for applications that require a fine-crystalline material that is transparent when processed with thin wall thicknesses. This compound stands out for its low density, negligible hygroscopicity and its availability in almost any colour.   

Badamid PPA/PA66 transparent S1 has been developed for very special applications. The use of a special polyamide makes this blend amorphous and combines the benefits of amorphous plastics with those of partially crystalline polyamides: extremely low
processing shrinkage, low warpage, excellent transparency and outstanding chemical resistance, to name just a few examples. Its fields of application are e.g. electronics and mechanical engineering where viewing windows and visible parts are required for process control.

Badamid PPA/PA66 GF15 transparent S1 is a further development of this type. The glass fibre content gives the compound that certain opacity due to light scattering on the fibre. Thus, parts backlit with LCDs or LEDs can be realized – an increasing trend, especially in automotive interiors.

In addition to backlighting, high-gloss surfaces with depth effect (the so-called piano-lacquer look) more and more dominate the interior equipment of motor vehicles. With the above-mentioned compounds, Bada provides a broad product basis that can be used for these applications. Successful UL listing Badamid PA12 CF20/GF10 S3

Bada AG specializing in the production of tailor-made compounds has come up with an exceptional gift for their customers in 2018.

With the successful UL listing of the Badamid PA12 CF20/GF10 S3 type, we have brought a new speciality on the market.

In addition to a comprehensive UL certification (UL File E189230), the compound has an interesting property profile that is predestined for antistatic and electroconductive parts, fans, chair castor wheels, and loudspeaker housings, as well as applications in the field of ATEX and the E/E industry.

The users benefit from the crucial advantage of being able to offer their products worldwide with the desirable UL mark.

Bada AG has a certification for all thicknesses ranging from 0.8-3.0 mm to provide their customers with maximum freedom of design. Thus, parts covered by the respective UL Yellow Card can be produced in almost every component thickness.

The Badamid PA12 CF20/GF10 black S3 product can be processed on all standard injection moulding machines.

Badalac ABS 30 FR< takes to the skies with Airbus and Boeing

Quite rightly, the aircraft industry has the highest demands on safety worldwide. Compounds delivered in this area consequently have to comply with these immense requirements. Challenged by this task, Bada AG enables the newly developed materials to take to the skies.

The fire class is an essential factor, in addition to an excellent surface and mechanical stability. >Badalac ABS 30 FR< perfectly combines all these qualities.

The CS/FAR 25.853 standard measures and qualifies afterflame times, burning distance and the fact if the material produces burning droplets. >Badalac ABS 30 FR< clearly underruns the safety values of all the three tests, consequently our material fulfils the relevant requirements according to the CS/FAR 25.853 standard. In addition, it is listed with UL94 V-0 for all colours.

Colour adjustments are no issue for >Badalac ABS 30 FR<. No wonder that standard colours like brown and oyster white are joined by pearl white, different shades of grey, and blue.
